As part of the Vilnius Old Town Revitalisation Programme, wall painting fragments have been restored on Bernardin\u0173, \u017demaitijos, and Dominikon\u0173 Streets, at the Gates of Dawn (from the Bazilijon\u0173 Street side), as well as on the facades of the Bonifratr\u0173 Church, the Chapel of St. Lawrence (Franciscan Church), and the Chodkiewicz Palace (Picture Gallery).<\/p>\n

The research, uncovering, conservation, and restoration of the 16th-century wall paintings on the northern nave of Bernardines<\/strong>\u00a0Church<\/strong> began in 1993 and continued intermittently until 2010. \nBetween 2020 and 2021, based on a bilateral agreement between Lithuania and Poland on cultural heritage cooperation, unique conservation and restoration work was carried out on the presbytery frescoes and polychrome decorations of the Church of St. Francis and St. Bernard (Bernardines)<\/strong> in Vilnius.
\nIn 2022, wall paintings, vaults, windows, and the main doors of St. Theresa\u2019s Church<\/strong> were restored.
\nBy 2024, the restoration of the vaults of the Franciscan Church<\/strong> was completed, partially funded by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Poland.
\nAll these wall painting restoration efforts significantly contribute to preserving the authenticity of Vilnius\u2019 Old Town, ensuring that these historical treasures are passed down to future generations.
