The Agency implements monitoring of old authentic entrance doors since 2015. More than 200 photos of old doors<\/a><\/span> are collected. Some doors are well preserved, a minor number of doors were restored, but majority are still neglected. Most of property owners do not invest into the restoration of old doors, because it is cheaper to change the doors into new ones, often into doors from \u201esafe metal\u201c. This attitude is very harmful: the character of buildings and the uniqueness of the city is destroyed. Bad examples: doors at Pamenkalnio St. 36 and \u0160altini\u0173 St. 9. Good example: old doors at Pylimo St. 45 were recreated in 2019.

The Agency encourages preservation of authentic historic doors. The municipal support up to 50 % is available for the restoration, renewal or recreation of historic doors. The property owners often forget the possibility to apply for the support for the doors renewal. Good examples of doors which were renovated with the help of the municipal support is at K. Kalinausko St. 10 (photos on the left above).<\/span><\/p>\n
