Lithuanian Cultural Support Fund approved financial support for second half-year of 2009

Lithuanian Cultural Support Fund approved financial support for two projects presented by Vilnius Old Town Renewal Agency for second half-year of 2009. Project "Historic Vilnius Organs" has got support of 9 000 LTL and project "Preservation of Traditional Wooden Architecture of Vilnius City" has got support of 10 000 LTL.

Vilnius Old Town Renewal Agency co-operates with Rochester University (USA), which has built a copy of historic organ made by Adam Gottlob Casparini for their Eastman School of Music in 2008. Rochester University also gave a substantial financial support for the authentic organ by Casparini located in St. Spirit Church in Vilnius, and they plan to continue to support the restoration of the authentic organ.

The aim of the project "Historic Vilnius Organs" is to present the information about remained historic Vilnius organs for youth and various public and religious communities. Project consists of 4 parts: specialised excursions, lectures, issuing a leaflet about historic organs and free organ concerts for Vilnius citizens in the Church of St. Spirit.

Second project "Preservation of Traditional Wooden Architecture of Vilnius City" will be implemented in a co-operation with heritage conservation specialists of Oslo City Municipality. Norwegian specialists will share their experience regarding useful and suitable means for the preservation of wooden architectural heritage. Meetings with residents and owners of wooden buildings of district Zverynas will take place in the framework of the project. Special information booklet will be issued about maintenance and preservation of wooden buildings.
