Project "World heritage – for schools"

In 2010 Vilnius Old Town Renewal Agency prepared an application for the project "World heritage - for schools". The application was presented to the Ministry of Education and Science under the invitation to present state level projects according to the component "Development of services of the informal education" of the Programme Plus 45.

It is planned to spread the knowledge on three UNESCO world heritage sites in Lithuania: Vilnius Old Town, Kernave Cultural Reserve and Curonian Spit. Cultural heritage values of these sites would be the base for the complex of educational tools on world heritage. The complex would consist of seminars, excursions, informational publications, films and special files for teachers about history, preservation and management of UNESCO world heritage sites. It is very important that the knowledge would be spread not only in largest Lithuanian cities, but also in small and remote towns where residents do not get enough services of the informal education. Partners of the project are Lithuanian National Commission for UNESCO and Directorate of the National Park of Curonian Spit.
