Links with Swedish Vastra Gotalandsregionen
We have established links with Swedish Västarvet organisation during the Partnerships’ Seminar organised by the Lithuanian Ministry of Culture in 07-10-2015. Västarvet is a large organization in the West of Sweden (Vastra Gotalandsregionen) engaged in administering natural and cultural heritage. Preventive and advisory action with the emphasis on cultural environment, nature conservation, archaeology, conservation and handicraft enables to preserve the natural and cultural heritage. Västarvet´s Craft and Building Preservation Center works as a showroom for inspiration of building preservation. Representatives of Västarvet agreed to co-operate with Vilnius Old Town Renewal Agency and accept a group of Lithuanian conservation heritage specialists to exchange experience in the field of maintenance of wooden architectural heritage. In order to get the financing for the exchange the Agency prepared the application for the Lithuanian Cultural Support Fund. The exchange visit to Västarvet is planned in spring of 2016.
From our side, we have invited representatives of Västarvet to take part in the international Crafts’ Conference in Vilnius in 12-11-2015. Two Swedish experts gave their presentations at the Conference. Mia Lindgren, handicraft consultant in the region of Västra Götaland presented „Three roads to a Craft Practice“. Ulrika Lindh, building preservation architect and building engineer, presented the theme „Support for skilled craftsmen working with traditional building techniques“.
