Every September 8, we come together to celebrate the founding of the Organization of World Heritage Cities (OWHC). This day is an opportunity to highlight the richness of our network and the commitment of every member city to bringing their historic centers to life.
We celebrated the OWHC Day in Vilnius, September 8, 2026. The excursion for interested Old Town enthusiasts was organized by Vilnius Old Town Renewal Agency; art historian and Director of the Agency Dr Juozapas Blažiūnas presented the history and legends surrounding the Gate of Dawn and the painting of the Blessed Virgin Mary, renowned for its miracles, as well as the research and restoration work carried out.
