June 13, 2025 Vilnius Old Town becomes a creative scene. Please come to the Stiklių St. 4 courtyard. CULTURE NIGHT invites you to a lively meeting place where old crafts meet contemporary culture, history meets music and unexpected discoveries.
18.00 – 19.30 “Underground Rivers” – a community of song lovers. A traditional, lively “sutartinės” (type of Lithuanian folk songs) are some of the oldest Lithuanian folk songs, protected by UNESCO as an intangible heritage of Lithuania. Join in, try, learn.
18.00 – 20.00 Craft workshop under the stars. The beautiful Stiklių Street has historically been associated with glassmaking and other crafts. You are invited to come and see the heritage of craftsmanship. Potters, weavers and jewellers will be waiting for you in the courtyard. The workshop will offer free craft demonstrations and hands-on training.
19.30 – 22.30 Green camouflage. A workshop inviting you to remember Ukraine at war, with the aim of creating a camouflage net during the evening that can be used to camouflage objects to blend in with their surroundings and make them less noticeable from the air or ground. Join the process.
21.00 – 22.30 Night lecture “The profession of the executioner (N-12)”. Once upon a time, every major city had its own executioner. Did Vilnius have one? Was an executioner a city official, responsible to the city government? Dr. Juozapas Blažiūnas, Director of Vilnius Old Town Renewal Agency, will present an intriguing story.
