European Artistic Crafts Days “Let’s shape the future” 2016

European Artistic Crafts Days (EACD) took place on April 1-3, 2016. EACD are intended to support the professional creative sector by organizing special events for the general public.

13 workshops-galleries took part in the European Artistic Crafts Days in Vilnius. They are active members of Vilnius Municipal Programme “Fine Arts, Ethnographical Trades and Fairs”. There were 32 events organised (5 exhibitions and 27 shows/workshops). 14 type of crafts were presented: smithery, pottery, black ceramics, jewellery, enamel technique, bookbinding, leather, amber processing, cutting paper, drawing, textile, quilts, making of glass beadings, decoration of Eastern eggs. More than 400 people visited events during 3 days of April. A3 format posters were distributed in various places of Vilnius: informational centres, schools, high schools, universities and workshops-galleries.

The Institut National des Métiers d’Art (National Institute of the Arts and Crafts), or INMA, has been coordinating the Artistic Crafts Days in France for more than ten years. In 2012 the EACD expanded across Europe. 5 new partners: Estonia, UK, Greece, Netherlands, and Poland joined the EACD in 2016. As a result, the EACD took place in 19 countries this year. Vilnius Old Town Renewal Agency has got invitation to join in the EACD movement in 2015 because of its’ active partnership in the European INTERREG IVC project “Innocrafts”. European Artistic Crafts Days in Vilnius were organized by the Agency already second year. Last year there were 40 events (presentations, shows, lectures and practical workshops) organised, 396 participants took part in all events.
